Use Essential Oils For Delightful Scents Everywhere by Anne Harvester
Essential oils are concentrated plant oils that come from a wide variety of different plants. While organic essential oils can be used for aromatherapy, essential oils can also be used in the form of bath oils, perfumes and cosmetics, in incense preparations, and in cleaning products used throughout the home to release a pleasing scent that will linger for a long time.
When used in regards to plant oils, essential simply means that the oil is from a particular plant and has a characteristic scent associated with the plant. Organic essential oils are certified organic and will contain no residues from chemicals that might be applied to non-organically grown plants.
Allspice oil is one of the Pure Essential Oils available. Allspice comes from a small tree that grows natively in the tropics, and the spice comes from the small fruits of the plant, which are dried. One of the more distinctive oils, essential oil of anise has a strongly licorice scent. This is wonderful used in a diffuser ring that fits over the top of a light bulb. These are placed on lamps around your home, and when the light bulb is turned on the heat from the lamp warms the oil, which allows it to more readily release its scent in the room.
Another of many well-known Aromatherapy Essential oils is Lavender Oil. The fragrant flower buds yield a wonderful scented oil that can be used in a personal sized aromatherapy diffuser that you can wear like a necklace around your neck. It was used in early times to scent Roman baths
You can also find pure essential oils that come in blends. Some promote mental calmness, a perfect antidote for a stressful day at work. Others help you to breathe easier. They contain essential oils such as eucalyptus, lavender, camphor and cedarwood, and when combined the scent may assist in opening and clearing your sinus membranes.
While essential oils can be detrimental if rubbed directly on the skin, they are wonderful when combined with a vegetable oil such as almond, safflower, aloe and jojoba. Then they become invigorating massage oils that can moisturize and scent your skin deliciously.
Hand and body lotions provide another great medium with which to use essential oils. These lotions that utilize fragrant oils smell wonderful, and can be used as a light perfume during the day, or can be applied as a soothing moisturizer after a shower or bath.
Whether you prefer to use these oils as an aromatherapy session, or use them in a massage oil or body lotion, you will soon become addicted to the variety of fragrances that you can enjoy.
