can anyone give me ingo on potpourri in colonial times?
I really need this. I have to do it for school. Thanks for your time and help. I have to make potpourri. It’s a craft.
I’m not sure about Colonial-era specific potpourri, but potpourri is a mixture of dried, naturally fragrant plant material, used to provide a gentle natural scent in houses. It is usually placed in a decorative wooden bowl, or tied in small bags made from sheer fabric.
Naturally scented plants used in traditional potpourri include:
Cedar wood shavings
Cypress wood shavings
Incense-cedar wood shavings
Juniper wood shavings
Lavender leaves and flowers
Mignonette leaves and flowers
Pinyon pine cones
Rose flowers, hips, or oil
Cinnamon and Cassia bark
Marjoram
Jasmine flowers and oil
My Wife loves to tie bunches of lavender together and hang them in our bedroom and bath… she also has bowls of dinnamon bark and dried apple in the living room.
